Annual Author EventWRITER and photographer, Andy Wasowski, will visit Plano on Thursday, January 30th, to sign books and speak about his latest book titled "The Landscaping Revolution: Gardening With Mother Nature, Not Against Her." Friends of the Plano Public Library are hosting the event, which kicks off with a reception at the ArtCentre of Plano in downtown Plano from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Wasowski will meet and greet individuals and sign books, which are available for purchase at the reception. Light refreshments will be served and local flute ensemble, Flute Salad, will also play. Advanced tickets for the reception are limited and will be available for sale for $10.00 at any of Plano's five libraries and at the door. Members of Friends of the Plano Public Library organization who have joined at the Classic level are admitted free. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., a free lecture will be held after the reception at Plano City Council Chambers located across the street. Long known for his humor and dedication to the environment, Mr. Wasowski, will share his expertise about using native plants in a more relaxed and natural style and explain how homeowners can reduce landscape maintenance from hours per week to just hours per year. Andy Wasowski along with his wife, Sally, have written nine books and over a hundred articles on native plants and have been honored by the American Horticultural Society, the Canadian Wildflower Society, and the Native Plano Society of Texas. Mr. Wasowski's articles and photos have appeared in publications such as: Sierra, Sunset, Fine Gardening, Audubon Magazine, The American Gardener, Country America, E Magazine, National Gardening, Texas Gardener, Neil Sperry's Gardens, Time-Life Books, and Brooklyn Botanic Gardens handbooks. He has also written for the gardening and lifestyle sections of a number of newspapers, including The Dallas Morning News and the Santa Barbara New-Press and has provided commentaries for National Public Radio's "Living on Earth" and "The Cultivated Gardner." Interested individuals may attend one or both of the events.
